Lok Sabha Polls: Analyst Predicts UPA Will Win 295 Seats and Form Govt, NDA Will Be Reduced To 248 Seats
IIM-B alumni Partha Das of Chanakyya Political Consulting projects a 55 seat victory for the UPA in Uttar Pradesh.
Following the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance in Uttar Pradesh and Priyanka Gandhi’s formal entry into politics, poll analyst Partha Das of Chanakyya has tweeted his predictions for the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls. As per Das, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) will win 295 seats. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), as per his analysis will win 248 seats.
In a detailed breakdown of this, Das predicts a 55 seat victory for the UPA in Uttar Pradesh, the largest state in the country in terms of seats (80) — and thus the most important one. The SP-BSP combine, according to Das, will join the UPA post-elections to reach the 55 seats count.
As per Das’s analysis, in Bihar, the NDA will fare better. Another state that pushes the results in favour of the UPA, per his predictions, is West Bengal, where according to him the NDA will score no more than three seats. He has also predicted that the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress will enter UPA in a post-poll alliance.

States, where the NDA will manage to gain seats include Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Last year, former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha had speculated that the BJP’s 2019 performance — under the leadership of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah — would not even come close to that of 2014. He further said that many believe the BJP would not even manage to win 200 seats in the general elections.
