Now, Students and Academics to March Against Modi Government
They will be protesting the government's attacks on the independence of universities and its attempts to communalise education.
Deccan Herald reported that students, teachers and university employees and civil society activists are planning to organise a march on February 19 next year, just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. This “broad platform” is united under the slogan, “Save Campus, Save Education, Save Nation”.
According to the DH report, organisers of the march have said that besides attacking the independence of universities, the Modi government is also trying to communalise education. The organisers also said that they would be mobilising thousands of people across the country to protest the government’s actions.
The protest march has already gained of several farmers and workers rights organisations.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has also announced the party’s support to the academics’ march.
