Captain Amarinder Singh Govt Created 4.41 Lakh Jobs in 2 Years in Punjab
Through Punjab government’s flagship programme, Ghar Ghar Rozgar, around 51,087 jobs have been created.
The Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government in Punjab has reportedly provided around 4.41 lakh jobs to people in the state. Through its recently concluded State Level Job Fair, the government provided jobs to around 18,672 people.
According to a National Herald report, the fair for the year 2018-19 — the third such fair to be conducted since Captain Singh took over the state’s governing in 2017 — was held for 10 days (from November 12-22) across 39 different locations. Around 109 employment drives were held throughout with around 88,000 job opportunities available. Some of the companies attending the fair included Philips, ICICI Prudential, NIIT, PepsiCo, Fortis and Reliance.
The job fair is part of the Punjab government’s flagship employment scheme Ghar Ghar Rozgar. The National Herald report cited that through the scheme, around 51,087 jobs had been created. In comparison, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) government had generated only around 17,415 employment opportunities in the state during its five-year tenure from 2012-16.
Amit Dhaka, Punjab’s Commissioner-cum-Director Employment Generation and Training said, “In the last 20 months, Punjab has witnessed a surge in employment opportunities for the youth. We have successfully provided over 4 lakh 40 thousand jobs and are witnessing an optimistic trend in the state.”
