Anna Hazare Says BJP Used Him To Win 2014 LS Polls, Narendra Modi Misleading People of India
"For how long will the lies continue?" he asked.
Social activist Anna Hazare on Monday, February 4, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using him to win Lok Sabha elections in 2014. He also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi by saying that he is misleading the people of the country.
According to news agency IANS, Hazare said that he had lost all regards for the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). “Yes. The BJP used me in 2014. Everybody knows that it was my agitation for Lokpal that catapulted the BJP and also the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to power. Now I have lost all regards for them,” he said in his village Ralegan-Siddhi in Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra.
The octagenarian hit out at both the Union and Maharashtra governments. He said that Modi is “leading the country to autocracy”. Speaking on the Devendra Fadnavis’ government, Hazare noted, “For how long will the lies continue? This government has let down the people of the country. The state government’s claims that 90 per cent of my demands have been conceded are also false.”
Hazare underlined that the Modi government had not taken any firm step to fight corruption. “They keep saying that central and state government ministers will come and discuss the issues with me. But I say no to them as it would confuse the people… (Let) them take firm decisions and give me everything in writing as I have lost faith in their assurances,” he said.
Currently, Hazare is on an indefinite hunger’s strike demanding the appointment of anti-corruption watchdogs at the Centre and in Maharashtra and resolution of farmers’ issue.
