Bhim Army Chief Chandra Shekhar Azad Sends Legal Notice to Zee News and News18 For Running Fake News Against Him
Azad said that the conduct of the two media outlets shows their anti-Dalit mindset.
Bhim Army Chief Chandra Shekhar Azad sent a legal notice to Zee News Hindi and News18 on Tuesday, February 5 for circulating “misleading, false, instigated offensive wordings” attributed to Azad.
The notice demands that both Zee and News18 issue an apology within three days of receiving the notice failing which, Azad will initiate criminal and civil defamation proceedings against them.
On February 2, Zee had falsely reported that Azad, speaking at a rally in Muzaffarnagar, had said, “Agar hum Bharat band karana jaante hain, toh jalana bhi jaante hain (If we know how to shut down India, we know how to burn it as well).” After the Zee report, News18 also reported the same fake news.
However, Azad had pointed out that he had said “run India (bharat chalana)” and not “burn India (bharat jalana)” as was erroneously reported by Zee and News18.
The same becomes clear upon hearing Azad’s speech. He makes the statement starting 1.30 in the following video.
Azad took to Twitter to announce that he has sent the said legal notice. He added that both channels had not issued an apology despite being called out by multiple media outlets and Azad himself.
He wrote, “This (lack of an apology) shows their (Zee News Hindi and News18) anti-Dalit mindset, hence I have sent them a defamation notice. We will fight any anti-Bahujan agenda furthered by manuwadi media channels.”
जय भीम pic.twitter.com/zVM1dXemlX
