Bihar: 18-year-old Muslim Girl Tied To A Tree And Brutally Thrashed For Eloping with Hindu Boy
"She was tied because she is a criminal. She wants to go with a man from another religion," said the girl's father.
On Wednesday, an 18-year-old Muslim girl in Bihar’s Nawada district was tied to a tree, brutally thrashed and caned by the villagers, including her parents, on the orders of village panchayat.
The girl was beaten because she had eloped with a Hindu boy. She remained tied to the tree for over five hours.
According to , the girl had fled Rajauli village on September 30 with her lover. The two were hiding in a nearby village. Soon, the villagers and parents of the Muslim girl caught hold of the young couple and dragged the girl back to Rajauli.
In the shocking video which went viral on social media on Friday, men could be seen beating up the 18-year-old with sticks while others watch. Reportedly, the girl fainted multiple times during the assault.
Later, the girl’s father was quoted justifying the assault. He , “She was tied because she is a criminal. She wants to go with a man from another religion.”
The police has not arrested a single perpetrator in this matter. Instead, they’ve been let go with a ‘warning’.
