Siwan: Dacoits Shout ‘Modi’ Slogans, Trick Victims Into Opening Door
"As soon as they entered the house, they beat us up — two women and two men were seriously injured," said Upendra Raj, the victim.
Bihar’s Siwan district experienced an unusual case of dacoity. As per a report by Mrityunjay Kumar of News18, the dacoits allegedly raised slogans of “Modi-Modi” to get the victims to open their doors. Once inside, they looted them, and even beat up the residents when they protested.
In Siwan’s Ghurghat area, near the Siwan police station, the dacoits targetted Upendra Raj’s home. According to him, when they heard the slogans of “Modi-Modi”, they though BJP members had arrived to ask for votes. They were in for a rude shock. The moment they opened the doors, the dacoits entered their home.
Upendra told News18, “As soon as they entered the house, they beat us up — two women and two men were seriously injured. After that, the dacoits fled with stuff worth lakhs.”
On receiving the information of the incident, cops arrived at the spot to investigate. No arrests have been made yet. Siwan Police’s officer-in-charge Ram Balak Yadav said that the victim’s family in their statement said that the miscreants had shouted “Modi-Mod” outside the house. The cops are trying to ascertain the veracity of that.
The police said that a complaint has been registered and a special team has been constituted to get to the bottom of the matter. Siwan residents, reportedly are quite angry over the incident and are urging that the administration take necessary action immediately.
