Shocking: Prasar Bharti Asks CPI MP to Remove RSS’ Criticism From Speech
The order says that the concerned part “is violative of the Model Code of Conduct which prohibits criticism of other parties or their workers..”
The Script vetting Committee of Prasar Bharti has reportedly asked to omit a paragraph from a speech by Communist Party of India (CPI) Rajya Sabha MP Binoy Visvam, that castigates the ruling party’s parent organization, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for its prejudiced, communal and anti-diversity ideology.
According to a notice issued by Prasar Bharti, the paragraph “is violative of the Model Code of Conduct which prohibits criticism of other parties or their workers based on unverified allegations or distortion.”
The notice, shared by journalist Sobhana Nair on Twitter, also includes that paragraph the committee has raised objections to. “Dalits, Adivasis, minorities and women were tortured and surpassed by the NDA government which was led by the ideology of racial supremacy preached by the RSS. They borrowed it from the school of Mussolini and Hitler. Their doctrine was always subservient to the interests of the rich and casteist communal forces. If these same forces recapture power once again it will be the end of India’s cultural diversity,” the speech said. It also added that based on the homogeneity that the RSS espouses in the Hindu religion, an idea sprouting from its philosophy of Hindutva that calls for ‘one nation, one culture, one language’, it has also started to talk about ‘one leader.’

Bharatiya Janata Party’s ideological root, the RSS calls itself a ‘social organisation’ is not a political party, neither are it’s workers political workers per se. In such a case, how does the criticism of the organisation be labelled a violation of the model code?
