Uttar Pradesh: BJP MP Put Under House Arrest for a Day After He Forcibly Entered Polling Booth With His Supporters (Video)
Bhola Singh, the BJP MP from Bulandshahr reportedly also took selfies with voters at the booth.

Bhola Singh, a Bhartiya Janta Party MP from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, forcibly entered the polling booth with his entourage on Thursday, April 18. After a security personnel tried to stop Singh from entering, the lawmaker dialled the District Magistrate (DM) who then allegedly asked the security personnel to let him in.
In a video clip shared by journalist Piyush Rai, it is seen that when Singh is entering the booth, he was stopped by the security personnels. Immediately after, Singh can be seen having placed a call, allegedly to the DM who then facilitated the BJP leader and his supporters’ entry into the booth.

In another video shared by Rai, Bhola Singh was later seen with folded hands in front of other voters who were going to caste their votes at the booth, taking their “Aashirvaad.” Reportedly, he was then escorted out by one of the security personnel.

The Election Commission took cognisance of the incident based on the video-grabs, and has asked the Bulandshahr DM Abhay Singh for a report. A a notice has been issued to Bhola Singh and he has been put under “house arrest” for the day, NDTV reported.
In another video posted by Rai, the DM explains that while nominees are allowed to walk through the booths in their constituencies, they are strictly prohibited from engaging in conversations with anyone, and from “seeking blessings” of voters.
