Bulandshahr Violence: Army Jawan Suspected to Have Shot Cop Subodh Kumar Singh
Jeetu Fauji allegedly joined the mob in Bulandshahr on Monday, before leaving for Srinagar on the same day.
Jeetu Fauji, an army jawan posted in Srinagar has reportedly become the primary suspect in the murder of police officer Subodh Kumar Singh during the Bulandshahr violence on December 3. Per reports, police officials are investigating if Fauji fired the shot that killed Singh.
NDTVthat two police teams have been deputised to Jammu and Kashmir to find out Fauji’s whereabouts. Speaking to NDTV, Fauji’s family members confirmed that he was present in Bulandshahr during the mob attack.
Fauji’s aunt Chandravati told NDTV, “He came from the spot and said, ‘See the drama’ and left for Kargil the same evening.” However, his mother Ratan Kaur said that she was not able to identify her son in the videos of the violence.
According to police officials investigating the death of Singh, videos show Fauji to be present during the incident. Kaur, however, countered the allegations that her son was the perpetrator of a murder but added that if he were guilty, he ought to be punished. “If he is the one who has killed the inspector then he deserves to be punished,” she told NDTV.
