Bajrang Dal Leader, VHP, BJP Youth Wing Members Named in Bulandshahr Cop’s Murder
Bajrang Dal's district head for Bulandshahr, Yogesh Raj, has been named as the no. 1 accused.
Several right-wing men have reportedly been named in the FIR for the murder of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh who was shot dead while he was placating the mob during the Bulanshahr violence over alleged ‘cow-slaughter’.
Shikhar Agarwal, linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth wing, Bajrang Dal’s district head for Bulandshahr, Yogesh Raj and Upendra Raghav reported to be linked to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have been named as the main accused in the case, reported Firstpost.
Yogesh Raj, has been named as the prime accused in the case. He has been booked for for murder and attempt to murder under sections 302 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code, respectively, as well as for damaging public property and arson, reported News18. Raj is reportedly absconding.
Prashant Kumar, ADG, Meerut Zone, told News18, “We will arrest more people today and will gather more evidence. The SIT team that has been formed is looking closely into the matter.”
On December 3, violence broke out in Bulandshahr after carcasses of 25 cows were allegedly found in forests close to a police post. Right wing protestors took to the streets and blocked a road. When the police tried to intervene, they resorted to stone-pelting, which in turn led to the police opening fire. During the violence, vehicles were also vandalised and set on fire by the mob.
