Received Saudi Prince at Airport But Couldn’t Meet Abhinandan: Chandrababu Naidu to Modi
The Prime Minister was addressing a BJP rally in Visakhapatnam around the time when the IAF pilot was crossing over to India at the Wagah border.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reportedly slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, March 1 for not receiving Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who had been held captive for over 48 hours by the Pakistani authorities.
Naidu referred to the grand welcome that the PM gave Saudi Crown Prince earlier this month. “PM Modi went to the airport to receive the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his India visit but chose to attend a political meeting in Andhra Pradesh when India’ s hero was coming back,” he told the media, reported India Today.
The Telugu Desam Party chief reportedly added, “Had PM Modi cancelled his meeting in Andhra Pradesh in order to receive the ‘desh-bhakth’ (Abhinandan Varthaman), the feeling of ‘desh-bhakthi’ would have echoed in every Indian’s head.”
Naidu was speaking to the press ahead of the PM’s visit to Visakhapatnam. The PM addressed a BJP rally in Visakhapatnam around the time that Abhinandan was being returned to India via the Wagah border.

Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman returned home from Pakistan on Friday to a hero’s welcome, two days after he was captured following a dogfight when his MiG 21 was shot down.
