Saurabh Agarwal was falsely accused of extorting money from BJP leaders.
On Thursday, Saurabh Agarwal, a Chattisgarh based journalist, consumed poison and accused CM Raman Singh and BJP leader Vijay Agarwal of harassment.
Saurabh runs a local Hindi newspaper Dainik Syahi. Before drinking poison in front of a district court in Rajgarh, he recorded a video statement and posted it on social media, reported National Herald.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital and is in a critical condition. Talking to NH, Saurabh’s friend who wished to be anonymous said, “Saurabh approached the district court demanding euthanasia.” He also said that Saurabh was falsely accused of extorting money. Dejected, Saurabh had approached the district court demanding euthanasia.
BJP leaders, angered by his publications in Dainik Syahi, lodged four FIRs against Saurabh, reported NH.
Saurabh said in his video, “You tell me – what should I do? Whatever I have written about them is true. First, they register an FIR against me then they register another FIR. I took bail and came out but within next 15-20 days, they have registered another FIR against me.”
“This is Raman Singh’s influence. This is BJP’s influence. Who should I go to? Who should I approach? I do not have enough money to take bail in each case. I do not even have money to feed myself. I have only one solution and that is to commit suicide. My mother should also commit suicide,” said Saurabh.
