Kerala: Minister KJ Alphons Campaigns in a Wrong Constituency, Realises Only When Local BJP Leaders Remind Him
Alphons kicked off his campaign by asking voters of Chalakudy constituency to vote for him. He is contesting from Ernakulam.
Union Minister KJ Alphons will contest from Ernakulam constituency in Kerala against two-time Congress legislator Hibi Eden. He started campaigning on Saturday, March 23 by asking the voters of the Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency to vote for him without realising that he is not in Ernakulam at all.
As per a report published in India Today by PS Gopikrishnan Unnithan, after reaching Cochin International Airport, Alphons deboarded from a bus in Aluva town on his way to Ernakulam. He interacted with several individuals and asked them to vote for him. The minister realised his mistake only when local BJP leaders reminded him that he is in the wrong constituency. Aluva is the suburb of Kochi (Ernakulam) city and falls under Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency.
Ernakulam is considered a Congress bastion. This time the party has fielded Eden replacing two-time sitting MP and former minister KV Thomas.
