Collapse Of Law And Order In Delhi, Haryana And UP, Kanwariya Goons Wreak Havoc
In all three states, law and order is under the control of BJP governments

With several incidents of violence, vandalism and harassment by mobs of Kanwariya ‘pilgrims’, the annual Kanwariya yatra has created an atmosphere of lawlessness and fear across Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, a clash between two groups of Kanwariyas escalated and they proceeded to thrash the policemen present at the scene in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The policemen ran away to save their lives, while a crowd of Kanwariyas chased them.
The hooligans then completely destroyed UP Police’s van. A case has been registered a case against them, reported ANI. The incident took place on Tuesday

Another group of Kanwariyas had thrashed a car on the same day in New Delhi. The couple sitting in the car also had to run as the Kanwariyas hurled stones at them. They later vandalised the car with baseball bats, sticks and rods.

Travellers on the NH8 highway near Gurugram have also reported large groups of drunk Kanwariyas creating nuisance and harassing women drivers.
The Kanwarias have taken over Gurgaon. On NH8 they’re drunk, stripping down, waving sticks at passing cars, whistling at solo women drivers. Making a mess of the roads. Skeletal @gurgaonpolice who aren’t able to do much. pic.twitter.com/AXQgaXpDGr

Another Twitter user has mentioned that a group of Kanwariyas hurled bottles and other items at her car.
Had a frightening experience with the Kanwariyas yesterday. A group started hitting my car with bottles and things because they wanted right of way. Pity the poor #DelhiPolice who have to control this mob. #Hinduism at its worst on display. #AAP #PMOIndia this has to stop

Instead of reining the hooligans in, Uttar Pradesh police is targeting ordinary citizens. In Bareilly district, the police has issued “red cards” to several families and made them sign “symbolic bonds” of Rs. 5 lakh each. The police has identified these people, ahead of the Kanwariya yatra, as persons who could “disturb peace” when the Kanwariyas pass through their locality.
Even though the “red cards” have no legal standing, it has caused many families, mostly Muslims, to flee their homes out of fear. There is a reasonable apprehension among these families that if any incident occurs, they will be falsely implicated. Homes of many Muslim families were searched unceremoniously, and the police has set up a control room in the house of one Hasmat Khan, reported the Indian Express.
While the Kanwariyas wreak havoc, people are questioning the administration’s double standards when it comes to using public spaces for religious purposes. In May this year, a group of Hindutva goons had bullied and chased away a group of Muslim men who had gathered to offer Namaz prayers at a field in Gurugram.
The Chief Minister of the state, M.L. Khattar, had supported the goons’ action, saying that Namaz prayers should not be offered in public.
The administration is completely silent on the continuing rampage of Kanwariyas. The lack of any fear of the law in the Kanwariyas can be explained by instances such as this video, where the Additional Director General of UP Police is ‘showering petals’ on Kanwariyas from a government helicopter.
