Lynching Victim Akhlaq’s Family Casts Their Vote in Dadri
Earlier this month, those accused of the lynching were seen sitting in the front row of U.P. CM Yogi Adityanath's poll rally.
The family members of Dadri lynching victim Mohammad Akhlaq reportedly cast their vote on Thursday. Dadri, which falls under the Gautam Buddha Nagar constituency, went to vote in the first phase of the 2019 election.
Earlier, Aaj Tak had reported that the names of the family members had been struck off from the voters’ list. However, after speaking to Akhlaq’s brother Jan Mohammad, Aaj Tak reported that the whole family had cast their vote from Dadri.
A mob of local right-wing men, some of them allegedly affiliated with the BJP, had barged into Akhlaq’s house on September 28, 2015 and had beaten him to death on suspicion of possession of beef. In the attack, Akhlaq’s son had sustained grievous injuries.
Recently, those accused of the crime were seen in the front rows of an election rally of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Union Minister Mahesh Sharma is the sitting MP from Gautam Buddha Nagar.
