The USP of ache din- communal violence continues unabated in Bihar. The latest incident happened in Nawada where a mob attacked a Muslim marriage party after it accused them of breaking the idols in Gondapur Village. The mob pelted their bus with stones and vandalised the hotel where the marriage party was staying. Mukhiyaji, a resident said, “Some people saw that an idol of Lord Hanuman by the roadside was broken. People gathered, and tempers flared.” Read the Indian Express report here.

In developments that would put any democracy to shame, it is becoming more evident with each passing day that the BJP government is leaving no stone unturned to sabotage the Judiciary. It has now emerged that two former CJIs, the current CJI and a former HC Chief Justice had cleared Krishna Bhat’s appointment to the High Court. A confidential note signed by the then CJI JS Khehar, Justice Dipak Misra and J Chelameswar says: “There was no material even with the Intelligence Bureau to even prima facie affirm the veracity of the allegations.” The note also says that the IB found no merit in allegations levelled against him by a lady civil judge.
