Delhi CM Hypocrisy: Inviting Sexual Harassment Accused Kailash Kher to Event While Remembering Nirbhaya
Journalist Anna Vetticad said, Kejriwal wanted to ‘keep the brave Nirbhaya alive in our minds, but ignore women who are still alive.’

Journalist Anna MM Vetticad, on December 16, called out the Delhi government’s hypocrisy in matters of sexual harassment. She pointed out that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal while asking everyone to remember the 2012 Nirbhaya case, invited singer Kailash Kher to be a part of the Mayur Utsav, on Sunday, December 16. Kher was outed as a sexual harasser during the #MeToo movement.
Tweeting about the gruesome incident, CM Kejriwal said, “Six years ago on this day one of the most brutal and worst crime was committed in the history of Delhi. Only way to keep the brave Nirbhaya alive in our minds is to ensure a strong struggle for women safety despite all hurdles in our way.”

Quoting Kejriwal’s tweet, Vetticad pointed out, “And on the anniversary of the Delhi gangrape, the Arvind Kejriwal government’s Mayur Utsav is hosting Kailash Kher who stands accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. You want ‘to keep the brave Nirbhaya alive in our minds’, but ignore women who are still alive, CM saab? #MeToo.”

Singers Sona Mohapatra and Varsha Dhanoa and several others had made allegations of Kher behaving inappropriately towards them. Earlier, in a tweet on Saturday, December 15, Mohapatra, too, requested the Delhi government to withdraw its invitation to Kher for the Mayur Utsav. In addition, she also filed a petition on a public forum to get Kher’s invitation withdrawn.
Dear #Delhi , @AamAadmiParty & @ArvindKejriwal @LtGovDelhi
Multiple #women including minors have come out in the public with their #MeToo stories against this predator,Kailash Kher & u choose to rub this kind of insult to injury? Do u care so little for 50% of ur population? 🔴 pic.twitter.com/hMYo5QNJGo— SONA (@sonamohapatra) December 14, 2018
The performance is scheduled for Sunday,16th December, so we have to act now to make sure that this festival celebrates #Delhi, it’s citizens, Delhi’s #women and not an accused in the #MeToo movement. Sign this petition – https://t.co/tMPaz8W5hU
