Delhi HC Refuses to Quash Bribery FIR Against Rakesh Asthana
The court has also asked the CBI to conduct investigation and submit the chargesheet in 10 Days.
The Delhi High Court has dismissed the plea of CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana for quashing the FIR filed against him in a bribery case. The court has also reportedly directed the CBI to conduct investigation in 10 weeks and submit a charge sheet.
The complainant, Hyderabad-based businessman Sathish Babu Sana had alleged to have paid bribe to get relief in the Moin Qureshi case. Sana had also made allegations of corruption, extortion, high-handedness and serious malpractice against Asthana.
Asthana had approached the high court for quashing of the FIR along with Deputy Superintendent of Police Devender Kumar, who was arrested and subsequently given bail. The FIR was also lodged against DSP Devender Kumar.
On October 23, just a few hours after the CBI closed in to clinch evidence on the role of its Special Director, Rakesh Asthana’s role in the bribery and money laundering case (allegedly extortion to fix cases), CBI Director Alok Verma was stripped off of his powers by the Central government, initiating the CBI mess.
