Delhi Voter Claims Cops & Polling Officials Harassed Him For Complaining About Mismatch Between EVM Button He Pressed & VVPAT Slip

Milan Gupta wrote that officials pressured him to not complain.

Milan Gupta, a Delhi-based voter, has claimed that he was harassed after he complained to polling officials on Sunday that his VVPAT showed that his vote went to a party other than the one he had voted for. Polling was held in all 7 constituencies of Delhi on May 12.

The wrong symbol was printed on the VVPAT slip when he cast his vote at a booth in Matiala. The officials, as per Gupta, asked him not to register a complaint. He was allegedly threatened with imprisonment if he challenged the vote. Further, he said that he was handed him over to the police after he refused to relent.

Gupta wrote a series of tweets about how the police unlawfully detained him. The senior most official allegedly asked Gupta to agree for a test vote. He even pressurised him to reveal his secret vote which Gupta refused.

Later, Gupta was asked to press any random button on the EVM. The VVPAT and the EVM button pressed for the test vote did not show any discrepancy and the official asked the police to arrest Gupta. However, Gupta underlined that his secret vote was different and the officer refused to listen to him.

Gupta was allegedly taken to a police station in Dwarka. He said that the police repeatedly kept calling the polling officials for hours and finally dropped him to his residence without arresting him.
