The Remarks Against Martyr Hemant Karkare Shows That RSS, Not India, is Everything for Them: Digvijaya Singh

He added that a strong India has been built with the sacrifices of Congress members, not the RSS.

Veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday, 23 April, lashed out against the faux nationalism of RSS and BJP on a Twitter thread, while underlining the contribution and sacrifice of Congress and its political leaders.

He said, “The statements of the people from the RSS against martyr Hemant Karkare makes it clear that instead of mother India (‘Bharat mata’), the sangh is everything for them!

Whosoever speaks against the sangh is termed a traitor to the nation (‘deshdrohi’). If the sangh doesn’t even like the country’s martyrs, then they are evil (‘shaitan’).

We have taken an oath on the constitution not the sangh. We are the (true) disciples (‘bhakts’) of mother India (‘Bharat mata’).”

In a second tweet, the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister added, “Today India is a strong nation. In it the people of Congress sacrificed their lives, not the Sangh. Mahatma Gandhi, Indira ji, Rajiv ji sacrificed their lives for it;

Chhattisgarh, Kashmir, Punjab, Assam, Manipur, Tripura.. Congress blood has seeped into the country’s soil. The sangh can’t smell this soil.”

After independence, to build a strong India, the contribution of hard working countrymen, sacrifice of army/ policemen, strength of the constitution, Congress policies are present.  Nation building is grand endeavour, not personal magic.”

Singh is running against the BJP’s Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur who an accused in the Malegaon bomb blast and currently out on bail. The Election Commission (EC) has issued a notice to Sadhvi Pragya over her remarks against police officer Hemant Karkare, who was killed in the 26/11 terror attack.
