Employment, Drinking Water, Crop Loans Top Priorities of Maharashtra Voters: ADR Survey

The survey points out that the Modi government neglected voters' priorities.

Mumbai: A survey conducted by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) in Maharashtra has revealed that better employment opportunities, drinking water and availability of crop loans were the top three priorities for voters in the state.

The survey results revealed that the government’s performance was below average on all the three parameters.

According to ADR officials, the Maharashtra survey covered approximately 24,000 respondents spread across all 48 parliamentary constituencies of the state.

The survey was conducted between October and December 2018.

The survey shows that better employment opportunities (42.10 per cent), drinking water (37.53 per cent) and agricultural loan availability (29 per cent) are the top three voters’ priorities in the state.

The performance of the government on these three priorities was rated at 2.48, 2.52 and 2.35 respectively on a scale of 5.

In addition, the government has performed poorly on noise pollution (2.17) and better roads.

“The survey points to the fact that voters’ priorities in Maharashtra have been neglected by the government in power.

This is quite clear from the fact that the government has performed poorly and underwhelmingly on almost all top governance issues as rated by the voters,” the report states.
