‘Fascist BJP Govt Down Down’: TN Court Asks Police To File FIR Against BJP State President For Harassing & Threatening Lois Sofia
“The petitioner counsel filed the CD and it reveals that there is certain threatening by the party members,” the court order read.
A Tamil Nadu court on Thursday, reportedly asked the state police to lodge a first information report (FIR) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Tamilisai Soundararajan and other party functionaries for allegedly harassing, abusing and threatening a 28-year-old research scholar Lois Sofia.
The Court said in it’s order, “The petitioner (Sofia) counsel filed the CD and it reveals that there is certain threatening by the party members. The petitioner counsel alleged that it happens due to the instigation of 1st respondent Tamilisai Soundararajan…This court felt that there is a sufficient ground to register the complaint against the persons who came along with 1st respondent Tamilisai Soundararajan,” reported The News Minute.
Sofia had reportedly shouted “Fascist BJP Govt Down Down” when on board a flight at Tuticorin airport on September 3. Tamil Nadu BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan, who was was present on the flight, was angered by Sofia’s sloganeering and allegedly abused her.
After getting off the flight, Soundararajan’s men had also allegedly threatened and abused Sofia and her family. The BJP lawmaker then registered a police complaint against Sofia, after which, the latter was sent to judicial custody for 15 days. Sofia was granted bail the following day.
