Ex-IPS Officer Sanjiv Bhatt’s Wife Says She Has Received No News Of Him Since His Arrest On September 5
Sanjiv Bhatt, an outspoken critic of the Modi govt, was arrested in 22 year old case.
On September 15, former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt’s wife Shweta Bhatt said that she had not heard from her husband ever since he was arrested on September 5.
In a post shared on Bhatt’s Facebook account, Shweta wrote, “There is nothing for me to write today. I have no updates at all, I don’t know as to how is Sanjiv, I have not seen him or heard from him in the past 12 days. Today is the 12th day and he is still not home.”
She continued, “I fail to understand as to what has he done? Just because he is the voice of so many Indians, his voice is being stifled?”
Shweta also shared a video saying, “I support Sanjiv Bhatt and my voice shall not be silenced.”
On September 5, Gujarat CID detained Bhatt for questioning in a 1996 case filed by a lawyer, Sumersingh Rajpurohit. Rajpurohit had alleged that he was kidnapped and framed in a false NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) case by Bhatt, when the latter was serving as the SP of Banaskantha.
Bhatt is one of the most prominent and outspoken critics of the Modi government. Several activists, the media and the Opposition have questioned the arrest of Sanjiv in a 22 year old case.
