Haryana: BJP Welcomes Back Leader Who Announced Rs 10 Cr Reward For Beheading Deepika Padukone
“It’s like coming back to my home,” he said.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suraj Pal Amu, who sparked controversy by announcing a reward of Rs 10 crore for beheading actor Deepika Padukone and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is back in the party.
The saffron party rejected Amu’s resignation. “It’s like coming back to my home,” he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Amu added, “I had resigned from different posts of Bharatiya Janata Party Haryana Unit many months back and today Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala has rejected it. For about 29-30 years I have been at different posts in the party and its student wing. These were very tough 8 months for me to stay away from the party, however, I kept working in different social organisations. It is like homecoming for me.”
In November 2017, Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala issued Amu a show cause notice for his controversial remarks prior to the release of film ‘Padmaavat’, reported The Indian Express. Amu had then quit from the post of Haryana BJP chief media coordinator. However, the BJP is welcoming back its leader with open arms in less than one year.
