Hilarious: In Uttar Pradesh, Express Trains Running Faster Than Modi’s Bullet Trains
While the bullet train will run at a speed of 320 kmph, express trains are already running at 403 kmph.
According to the data maintained by the Indian Railways, express trains are running faster than the yet-to-be-launched bullet trains. While the speedy bullet trains will run at a speed of 320 kmph, express trains in Uttar Pradesh are already running at a speed of 403kmph.
The discrepancies in the data came to light after an audit conducted by the Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG), reported The Times of India.
“During 2016-17, the three trains operated on 354, 343 and 144 days respectively, out of which they took less than 53 minutes (on 25, 29 and 31 days respectively) to travel a distance of 116 km between Fatehpur and Allahabad,” the CAG report stated.
“On July 9, 2016, Allahabad Duronto Express reached Fatehpur at 5:53 am and Allahabad at 6:10 am, which suggested that the train travelled 116 km in 17 minutes, at a speed of 409 kmph,” it added.
Usually, a train takes a minimum of 53 minutes to cover the distance between Fatehpur and Allahabad, at the maximum permissible speed of 130 kmph.
The audit found major variations in the data of three trains- Prayag Raj Express, Jaipur-Allahabad Express and New Delhi–Allahabad Duronto Express.
According to the TOI report, incorrect entries were registered with Integrated Coaching Management System (ICMS) and National Train Enquiry System (NTES), which resulted in significant inconvenience to passengers.
This data is responsible for monitoring the real-time operations of the train. The inconsistency in the data ended up showing the wrong arrival time of the trains.
