If My Words Hurt Her, I Express My Regret: Sharad Yadav on Body-shaming Vasundhara Raje
Sharad Yadav had earlier said, "Let Vasundhara rest, she is very tired now, she is very fat too, earlier she was slim."
Senior political leader Sharad Yadav on Saturday, December 8 expressed regret for body shaming Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje by calling her “very fat”.
“I saw her statement. I have very old family relations with her. If my words hurt her, I express my regret. I will also write a letter to her,” Yadav told ANI.
While campaigning in Alwar on Wednesday, December 5, the former Janata Dal-United (JDU) leader was heard saying, “Let Vasundhara rest, she is very tired now, she is very fat too, earlier she was slim. She is our daughter from Madhya Pradesh (Vasundhara ko aaram do, bahut thak gayi ain, bahut moti ho gayi hain, pehle patli thi. Hamari Madhya Pradesh ki beti hai).” The video of Yadav’s rally was shared by ANI on Twitter.
On Friday, December 7, when asked to comment on the issue, Raje asserted that his statement is an “insult to all women”. She added that she felt hurt also because Yadav was always very close to her family. “Youth can take a cue from this to set an example… I feel insulted, this is an insult to all women,” she said.
