BJP Govt Is Trying To Suppress Media; They Will Raid, Harass And Attack: Rahul Gandhi On The Quint Raids
The IT department carried out “surveys” at media entrepreneur Raghav Bahl’s residence.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday slammed the Narendra Modi government for conducting Income Tax raids at the offices of The Quint, a web-based news platform.
During a press conference, Gandhi said, “They (BJP) will raid, harass, attack and suppress. That’s their agenda… The government is trying to suppress the media.”
The IT department carried out “surveys” at media entrepreneur Raghav Bahl’s residence in Noida and the offices of The Quint and The News Minute. Bahl is the founder of The Quint. He is also an investor in The News Minute.
According to reports, IT officials have also asked for a list of employees at The Quint and their contact details, apart from books of accounts and other revenue information.
Furthermore, IT officers also attempted to clone data from Ritu Kapur’s personal gadgets. Kapur is the co-founder of The Quint.
IT officers are trying to clone data from @kapur_ritu‘s gadgets. When she screamed and asked me about the law of privacy and whether they can clone her journalistic and personal material, while I was standing outside her residence, two IT officers pulled her inside the house.
