India Assured Us That People Left Out From Assam’s NRC Will Not Be Sent To Bangladesh As They Are Part Of Indian Economy: Bangladesh MP Says After Meeting MoS Home Kiren Rijiju
Around 40 lakh people were excluded from the final draft of Assam's National Register of Citizens.
Bangladesh MP Nazibul Bashar on Tuesday said that the Narendra Modi government will not deport the 40 lakh people excluded from Assam’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) to Bangladesh.
Bashar made the statement after meeting MoS for External Affairs M J Akbar and MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju in Delhi today.
Bashar told India Today reporter Geeta Mohan that the Indian government has confirmed that the people left out from NRC will not be sent to Bangladesh.
Bashar quoted Rijiju and said, “NRC is a long judicial process. Even if the numbers reduce from 40 lakhs to 10 or 5, Modi government will not depot them as it considers the Bangladeshi immigrants as part of the indian economy.”

After such statements, question arise on the validity of conducting the entire exercise of NRC.
