West Bengal: Jadavpur Voters Allege TMC Leaders Beating Them Up, Casting Proxy Votes (Video)

“We came to vote, but they did not allow us to vote,” said one woman voter.

Reports of proxy voting and booth capturing have emerged from Jadavpur constituency, West Bengal on Sunday, May 19 during the last phase of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

As per a video shared by Firstpost, a woman voter said, “We came to vote, but they did not allow us to vote… Sadjak and Modhu, those two guys said don’t go to get thrashed for no reason.”

When asked whether the two men were affiliated to any political party she said, “They are Arabul’s people, TMC’s people. They said, ‘You all don’t vote, your vote has already been cast, you all go home.’”

Arabul Islam is a known miscreant. Earlier in 2013, he had been arrested for attacking CPM MLA Abdur Rezzak Mollah and shooting at CPM supporters.

Trinamool has fielded actor Mimi Chakraborty from the Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency. She is contesting against CPI(M)’s Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya and BJP’s Anupam Hazra.

The results for the 17th Lok Sabha election will be declared on May 23.
