Hindus Must Have Five Children, Give Them Weapons: Hateful Speech at ‘Dharm Sabha’ Attended by J&K BJP Chief
Both RSS and VHP members were reportedly sitting on the stage when the speech was delivered.
At a ‘Dharm Sabha’ organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parsihad (VHP) in Jammu on Sunday, December 16, a Hindu nationalist leader, ‘Mahant’ Dinesh Bharati, reportedly said that all Hindus must have five children and that each child should be given weapons.
“Aap se nivedan.. Ek Hindu paanch bacche paide karen aur paanchon ko chote haathon mein hathyar de aur hathiyar le kar eelan karey ki meri taraf kisi ne bhi aankh uthakar deekhi toh uski aankh nikal kar dikaunga (I have a request. Each Hindu should have five children and weapons should be given to all five children and they should take a pledge that if anybody looked at them with evil intentions, they will cut out their eyes),” said Bharati, reported IE. Bharti was reportedly one of the prominent faces of the 2008 Amarnath agitation.
The Indian Express reported that VHP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders were sitting on the stage when the hateful speech was delievered, and Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Ravinder Raina was seated among the audience. BJP members and former ministers Sat Sharma, Sham Choudhary and Chander Parkash Ganga were also part of the audience.
Ganga had to resign as a minister in the PDP-BJP coalition government in the state earlier this year after he had attended a rally in support of the men accused for the rape and murder of an 8-year-old Bakarwal Muslim girl in Kathua.
Governor Satya Pal Malik’s advisor K Vijay Kumar told The Indian Express, “We are examining the speeches. We will seek legal opinion. If there is anything unlawful, necessary action will be taken.”
