Jean Drèze & Two Other Activists Out of Police Custody

According to sources, the police said they will be filing an FIR against the three.

Economist Jean Drèze and two other Right to Food Campaign activists, Vivek and Anuj, have been released from the Vishnupur police station, where they were taken by Jharkhand police for organising a meeting in Garhwa district without permission on Thursday.

The trio also asked the police for permission to organise the meeting on Wednesday, citing that a much larger meeting had been held in the area the previous night. However, they were denied permission, sources say.

Sources added that the police asked the three activists to sign a bond saying they have no complaints with the government. However, the three did not sign such a bond or a statement and were allowed to leave the station.

According to sources, the police said they will be filing an FIR against the three.
