Jharkhand: Two Youths Severely Injured in Separate Cases of Mob Violence
In one incident, a mentally challenged youth was beaten up on suspicion of theft.
A mere week after the brutal lynching and death of Tabrez Ansari, two separate incidents of mob violence were reported in Jharkhand’s Godda district.
Per a report in Prabhat Khabar, on the night of June 27, people in Kanhawara village in Mufassil police station area brutally beat up one Chand Ansari, who was allegedly caught stealing a motor cycle. Ansari was accompanied by two others who managed to escape. The mob of villagers brutally beat up Ansari at around 1 am.
The report adds that despite being informed by the locals, the police did not reach the scene till around 4 am. The Mufassil police station is reportedly just 3 kilometres away from the village. Ansari’s condition has been reported as critical.
In the second incident, Prabhat Khabar reported, a mentally disabled youth was beaten up in broad daylight on suspicion of theft in Mahagama town. Around 12 pm on June 28, Raj Yadav was beaten up for an hour till he fainted. An ambulance was called and he was rushed to the hospital.
According to the report, eyewitnesses claim that even though the police was informed when the mob targeted Yadav, they did not reach the scene despite the police station being situated only half a kilometre away. It was only after Yadav was taken to the hospital that Godda SP Shailendra Prasad Varnaval visited him.
