Madhya Pradesh: Audio Clip Surfaces, BJP Leader Mukesh Tandon Allegedly Said Unless ‘Liquor, Money, And Sari’ Distributed, Saffron Party Will Lose Assembly Elections
In the now-viral audio clip, the man believed to be Tandon can also be heard saying that no one was interested in coming and attending Narendra Modi’s rally on November 25.
Ahead of the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, an audio clip that has gone viral on social media features a conversation allegedly highlighting how the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are struggling to fill seats for PM Narendra Modi’s rallies and fearing a defeat in the state.
In the audio clip, a man who introduces himself as Mukesh Tandon, asks the other man for money from the BJP funds to distribute “liquor, money (and) saris”. The Congress party has alleged that the conversation, that can be heard in the audio is between BJP candidate from Vidisha and Rakesh Singh, the BJP MP from Jabalpur. The Congress has reportedly submitted the tape to the Election Commission (EC).
In the clip, Tandon can be allegedly heard abusing BJP workers and even complaining that they refuse to work unless they receive at least Rs 500 every day. In response to Tandon’s request for money, Singh allegedly chided him and said that since he (supposedly Tandon) is “saksham (well-off)”, why he is asking the party for money.

The voice, believed to be Tandon’s can be heard replying, “I have spent Rs 1–1.5 crores from my pocket but sir, if anything could be managed from the party fund…” to which the other voice (believed to be Singh’s) asks whether he (allegedly Tandon) was fighting an election or distributing money. Next, Singh allegedly added that he (believed to be Tandon) had already received Rs 22 crores in his account; with additional Rs two crores coming from the state president and that the chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, had said that he had given him another Rs three crores.
In the audio, the voice that has been identified by the Congress as Tandon’s can be heard saying, “Sir, all that money went in providing arrangements for Modi ji’s sabha to be held on November 25. No one wants to come to listen to him…” The other voice (allegedly Singh’s) then tried to cut him off by reminding him of the money he had received for a municipal corporation tender. In response, Tandon allegedly says, “On the last day, we will need liquor and money in large quantities. How can we win without these?”
The man believed to be Singh, then, tells him that he would discuss this matter with the chief minister and instruct him on what needs to be done only after that. An insistent Tandon allegedly) reiterates, “Sir, I will need three crores… I have made all the setting. Liquor, money (and) sari, we will do everything. We will take in the seat at the end…” Finally, warning the other man (believed to be Singh), he added, “All these have to be distributed in the end. Without money, it cannot be managed. We are in doldrums, we will lose. All these have to be distributed towards the end.”
