Madhya Pradesh: Tribal Women Protest After Being Denied For Two Years Nutritional Allowance of Rs 1,000 a month
Tribal women in the state are entitled to the allowance under the Adivasi Kalyan Yojana.
Around 1,500 tribal women in Dabra, Madhya Pradesh have not been receiving nutritional allowance of Rs 1,000 per month for two years,to which they are entitled to under the state administered Adivasi Kalyan Yojana.
Patrika reported that women from several villages have gone to the tehsil offices several times to complaint about the non-payment, but there has been no remedy.
On Monday, 27 May, women deprived of the allowance took a rally to Bhitarwar tehsil office and in the absence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, submitted their petition to Nawab tehsildar Jyoti Jatwa to demand that the allowance be given on time. The women said that the village sarpanch and officials are not paying heed to their problem.
In the petition, the women said that while they were deprived, the allowance was being given at other village panchayats. The affected women are from villages such as Masoodpur, Bagwaidfai, Joura, Mahavirpura, village panchayats in Singharan, Kharicha, Harsi, Pawawa, Sankarpur, Kithonda, Saharan, Dhoubat, Khor, Mukhari, Bajna, Bajna colony, Mundhri.
