Madhya Pradesh: Yet Another Baba Made Cabinet Minister
Lateral Entry Scheme For Babas?
The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh elevated yet another Baba to the status of Minister of State (MOS). The BJP continues to serve the toxic mix of politics and religion with an eye on the assembly election scheduled this year.
The government has elevated Madhya Pradesh Cow protection board chairperson Swami Akhileshwaranand to the cabinet rank after he conveyed discontent on being appointed to the Narmada conservation panel along with other “controversial figures”.
In a move by the BJP earlier, five religious figures were granted the status including Computer Baba, Swami Hariharanandji, Saraswati, Narmadanandji, Pandit Yogendra Mahant and Bhaiyyuji Maharaj.
In a report by The Indian Express, Swami Akhileshwaranand expressed that he felt humiliated, on being put at par with ‘controversial figures’. He also said that he was surprised to find his name in the cow protection board list without his consent.
Within days of expressing his discontent through a letter to the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Cow Protection Board chairperson was elevated to a Cabinet rank.
