Maharashtra: 323 EVMs Go Missing For 23 Hours After Polls in Kalyan Constituency
Polling was held in Kalyan on Monday, April 29.
After polling was concluded in Kalyan, Maharashtra on April 29, 323 EVMs reportedly went missing and did not reach the strong room for almost a day after the stipulated time.
Zee News Hindi reported that the EVMs and other accompanying materials should have reached the strong room at Savitribai Phule Theatre in Dombivali on the same night, however, the same did not happen.
Shiv Sena raised the matter with the EC officials in the area. The party’s Thane district head reportedly told the media that they had approached the polling officer who was unable to give an explanation for the lapse, reported Zee News Hindi.
After almost 23 hours, the EVMs reached the strong room. According to EC official Shivaji Kadbane, the EVMs hadn’t moved from where they had been stationed and due to a delay in the procedure, the EVMs could not be deposited into the strong rooms in time.
