Mumbai: A man was Sunday arrested for allegedly molesting and flashing at a 23-year-old woman inside an ATM centre in suburban Mulund on the pretext of helping her withdraw money, police said.
The incident took place at 2.30 pm at the ATM centre at Navghar in Mulund east, an official said.
“The victim was facing some difficulty in withdrawing money from the ATM machine,” he said.
The 38-year-old accused, who was waiting outside the ATM centre, went in and offered to help her. However, he touched the woman inappropriately and started behaving in an indecent manner with her, the official added.
Later, he also flashed at her. The woman managed to capture the act on her mobile phone, following which the man fled from the ATM centre, he said.
The woman then contacted the police control room and told them about the accused, the official said.
A police team patrolling in the area caught the man and later arrested him under IPC sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and others, he said.
The accused is a resident of Kopri in Thane city, he said adding he will be produced before the court on Monday.
