If Muslims Don’t Vote for Me, I Will Not Do Anything for Them: Maneka Gandhi’s Threat For Votes
Ye Aur Baat Ke Teri Gali Mein Na Aayen Ham, Lekin Ye Kya Ki Shahar Chod Ki Jaayen Ham? - Habib Jalib.
“Saudebaazi” (roughly translated as trade or give and take) is how Maneka Gandhi described her idea of the duties of elected representatives. In a video clip doing the rounds on Social Media, Gandhi is seen addressing a rally, and saying that if muslims don’t vote for her, she will not help them when they need help because after all, she is no “aulaad of gandhi” (Mahatma Gandhi’s child). The reference to the Mahatma here being the idea of unconditional giving.
Women and Child Minister #ManekaGandhi on camera says:
“I am going to win for sure. If Muslims won’t vote for me and then come to ask for work, I will have to think, what’s the use of giving them jobs.”#LokSabhaElections2019 @ECISVEEP pic.twitter.com/BHG5kwjwmQ

Her words besides being shameful and immoral, fly in the face of the advisory of the Election Commission of India which has forbidden religious/communal invocations by politicians.
It remains to be seen whether and what action the Election Commission takes in this matter. Her utterances add to a long list of deeds and words of senior BJP leaders including Modi, Shah and Adityanath indicating that in their mind Muslims are secondary citizens.
