BJP Won’t Return to Power, ‘Naatakbaaji’ and ‘Jumlebaaji’ Won’t Work in Polls: Mayawati
The main reason for Narendra Modi's loss would be his failure to keep the promises he made ahead of the 2014 elections, she said.
Vijayawada: BSP chief Mayawati Wednesday asserted that the BJP-led NDA government would not return to power at the Centre as its ‘naatakbaaji aur jumlebaaji’ (drama and rhetoric) were not going to work in the April-May general elections.
“BJP and Co is not going to come to power. Inka jumlas nahi chalega. Chowkidari ki naya naatakbaaji bhi inko nahi bachaa payegi” (their rhetoric will not work. Watchman’s new drama will also be not able to save them) Mayawati said, addressing an election campaign meeting of the Jana Sena-led alliance of BSP, CPI and CPM here this evening.
Mayawati, who earlier in the day hinted at her Prime Ministerial ambitions, alleged that the BJP was desperately trying to rake up nationalist fervor for political gains, but warned it would not succeed.
The main reason for Narendra Modi’s loss would be his ‘failure’ to keep the promises he made ahead of the 2014 elections, she said.
“Modi made a lot of alluring promises in 2014 for various sections. But not even one-fourth of the promises fulfilled.
The promised Achche Din has never come,” she remarked.
The BJP pursued RSS ideology, capitalist and ‘hatred filled communal agenda,’ which would surely make it lose power, Mayawati said.
The BSP supremo alleged that demonetisation and GST were implemented in haste, resulting in increased poverty and unemployment.
“The nation’s economy has also been badly affected.
Corruption increased at every step.Small and medium businesses are still facing troubles,” she pointed out.
Modi’s government could also not fully secure the country’s borders because of which terrorist attacks continued to take place, leading to loss of several lives.
“So, for the past few days, Modi is again trying different tricks to deceive people. But no drama or trickery will work this time,” the BSP leader added.
The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister alleged that Modi, as part of a conspiracy to cover his failures and keep the opposition silent, has been targeting important opposition leaders through agencies like the ED, CBI and Income Tax Department.
“There is gross misuse of ED, CBI and IT. Cases are being foisted on opposition leaders.
The Congress, when in power, also grossly misused these agencies for its political gains,” she lashed out.
The BSP is contesting three Lok Sabha and 21 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh as part of the electoral alliance with the Jana Sena.
The CPI and CPI(M) are the other partners.
Since she is pally with Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu whom the Jana Sena and the Left are directly fighting at the national level, the BSP leader indirectly hit out at him, saying “the ruling party in AP also may lose power” because of its faulty policies.
“The ruling party mostly failed in many aspects,” she said, without taking names.
Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and others attended the campaign meeting.
