West Bengal: CPI(M) MP Md Salim’s Car Attacked Raiganj, Stones Hurled
Salim had rushed to a booth in Islampur after reports of poll rigging.
CPI(M) MP Mohammad Salim’s car was attacked in Raiganj on Thursday after the he opposed poll rigging at Islampur in the Raiganj Lok Sabha constituency.
As per sources, after receiving news that illegal bulk voting was being practiced at Patagora in Islampur, Salim went there himself to put a stop to the illegal polling practice.
Once Salim reached the spot, the miscreants left the booth. However, Salim’s car that was parked outside the booth was pelted with stones around 10.30 am. The rear windshield was shattered and the glass panes were damaged.
Salim’s son Russel Aziz told NewsCentral24x7, “Salim went to a booth in Islampur where police wasn’t there. Trinamool members fled after seeing him and then threw stones at his car. The booth was secured eventually.”
Polling is being held in Raiganj in the second phase of the Lok Sabha election. Salim is the sitting MP from Raiganj.
