BJP MP Claims Credit For Me Too Campaign In India Goes To Narendra Modi
The party says under Modi, "atmosphere is more free and that’s why women are coming out."
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Darshana Vikram Jardosh on Friday questioned why the women who faced sexual harassment waited years before speaking up.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Jardosh said, “Why were you waiting for years? I don’t believe these allegations.”
She further said that she was forced to believe that the “atmosphere wasn’t right’ for them earlier.
“Now under Narendra Modi government, the atmosphere is more free and that’s why women are coming out now. In Gujarat, we had a free environment under the Narendra bhai regime, so women could complain immediately,” she added.
