#MeToo: Suhel Seth Disappears From Public Eye As Allegations Of Sexual Harassment Pile Up

Author and media personality Suhel Seth, who has made a career out of TV appearances and panel discussions, has vanished from the public eye after sexual harassment allegations against him surfaced.
Here is a list of the allegations Seth thinks he can just run away from.
1. “He held the back of my neck and pushed me down to his crotch.”
An anonymous fashion writer to Mid-day and described how when she was looking for work in London, her father requested ‘one of India’s most prominent industrial families’ who were also Seth’s employers, to help her network. They suggested she meets Suhel Seth.
She says Seth responded to her introductory email with, “Darling: Come to the Taj 51 Buckingham Gate reception when you arrive this afternoon at 3 pm. I will be waiting for you there… (sic)”
At a party that Seth threw at a posh hotel in London, Seth took her to another room on the pretext of giving her a signed copy of his book. “While he was talking, he suddenly pushed his tongue into my mouth. The stench of malt was overpowering. I pushed him away. He held the back of my neck and pushed me down to his crotch. I stumbled, but got back on my feet and mumbled, ‘I can’t. I am going to throw up’. I gathered myself and walked out of the room. The eyes of the female guests were on me, as if to say, we know what happened in there,” she narrates.
2. “Once he commented on the size of my breasts, saying that I shouldn’t wear a bra, another time he asked me if I had waxed my legs or not..”
Author Ira Trivedi, in an published in Outlook, accused Suhel Seth and Chetan Bhagat of sexual harassment.
She wrote, “Once he commented on the size of my breasts, saying that I shouldn’t wear a bra, another time he asked me if I had waxed my legs or not, and once at another literature festival under the effect of alcohol, he made several throwaway comments about my “sexy yoga poses” on TV.”
She further described how Seth would inappropriately touch her and other women at parties. “Intoxicated, Suhel also became too familiar with me and other women – putting his arms around our waists at parties, holding us a second longer than necessary after a self-imposed hug, planting one on our cheeks or lips when you least expected it.”

3. “I was all of 17…he sent me another DM and asked me to join him in his room for drinks..”
An anonymous woman alleged that when she was 17 years old, she was a fan of Seth and had tweeted to him in admiration. However, Seth followed up by asking her to “join him in his room for drinks.”
“I didn’t respond to his message and he kept messaging me to join. And wrote ‘big wild kiss’ at the end of the last message after which I blocked him. All this to a 17-year-old girl,” she added.

4. “..Suhel reached out – I figured for a quick hug – and planted a big sloppy kiss on my mouth, I felt his tongue inside my mouth.”
Journalist Mandakini Gahlot took to Twitter and called out Suhel Seth for sexual harassing her at a conference in Goa.
“Suhel Suhel kept describing the “cottage suite” he was in, and telling me to come check it out after dinner. I distinctly remember he said something about a jacuzzi.”
When she was leaving the conference, Gahlot says Seth “planted a big sloppy kiss on my mouth, I felt his tongue inside my mouth. I was so stunned and I said something like Suhel, you can’t do that.”

5. “Thank you for not raping me that night.”
Filmmaker Natashja Rathore alleged that Suhel Seth assaulted her.
According to Rathore, Seth had insisted that she joins him for an ice cream in Janpath in central Delhi. “You used your power to take me home instead… You then threw yourself at me although I was clearly uncomfortable. You shoved your tongue in my throat even when I resisted — I whacked your head and said ‘behave yourself’. You put your hand into my kurta and grabbed my breast,”

6. “He started messaging me things like…Have a bath and brush your teeth before you come over”
Writer Ishita Yadav also recounted her experience from 2009, when she was 24 years old. Seth would message her on Facebook, and at one point, invited her to his house for a drink.
7. “He shoves his f**king tongue down my mouth. I immediately bit his tongue..”
Model Diandra Sores wrote a Facebook post that Seth molested her at a fashion part in Delhi.
“I was dancing on a couch & out of nowhere Suhel Seth first hands in my blouse so I pinched his ear n twisted it, then he shoves his f**king tongue down my mouth. I immediately bit his tongue & bit it really really hard with all my might & anger. Oh I also grabbed his BALLS & squeezed it hard & refused to let GO”

8. “He groped my breast and my reaction was to immediately back off and scream and call him out”
Jasmine Divekar alleged that while hanging out at a cub, she greeted Seth like she did everyone else. But Seth “groped my breast and my reaction was to immediately back off and scream and call him out. I actually pulled out my phone and asked him a to do it again so I could record it. This scared him a bit – but not all that much.”
She wrote that Seth even started hurling abuses at her after that.
