Himachal Pradesh: Worms Found in Mid-day Meal Served in Govt School
Upon spotting the worms, students reportedly threw away the food and filed a complaint with the Headmaster.
Worms were reportedly found in the mid-day meal served in a school in Renukaji, Sirmaur district on May 24. Thankfully, the students spotted the worms in time and refused to eat the food.
Dainik Bhaskar reported that the incident took place at Renukaji State Girls High School. Around 50-60 students of grades VI-VIII were served the mid-day meal, as mandated by the Right to Education Act. However, as the students saw that the food was contaminated, they threw it away and complained to their parents as well as to the Headmaster of the school.
The report adds that despite the growing number of students, there is only one cook at the school. Cooking for these many students is no easy task. Even then, the mid-day meal incharge should have checked the food before it was served to the students.
The Headmaster of the school, Sanjay Pasi, told Dainik Bhaskar that he has received a complaint from the students, and that a detailed inquiry will be undertaken.
