BJP Mizoram Chief JV Hluna Faces Humiliating Defeat in Tawi, Loses Deposit
He lost to Mizo National Front (MNF) candidate R. Lalzirliana
The Bharatiya Janata (BJP) Mizoram state president JV Hluna, contesting from Tawi constituency, has lost his deposit. With one seat, the saffron party has opened its account in the northeastern state.
Mizo National Front (MNF) candidate R. Lalzirliana won from Tawi with 4,940 votes, independent candidate R. Lalthatluanga came second with 4756 votes and the BJP candidate managed to get only 714 votes. In 2013 Assembly elections, Lalzirliana won the seat as a Congress candidate.
The MNZ is set to form a government in the state.
