Shame: Modi Asks People to Vote in The Name of Pulwama Martyrs, Balakot
Despite the ECI’s strict guideline to “desist” from indulging in propaganda involving actions taken by defence forces.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again resorted to exploiting the military while indirectly asking people to vote for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Latur, Maharashtra on Tuesday.
Alok Kumar reporting for TV9 Bharatvarsh wrote that Modi had sunk low once again to score votes by pulling up the Indian military, mentioning their martyrdom in Pulwama, and their work behind the Balakot airstrike.
The PM said, “Take a pledge, the first vote you are going to cast, I ask, can your first vote be dedicated to the soldiers who were behind the Balakot airstrike?… Can your first vote be dedicated to the soldiers martyred in the Pulwama attack?…”
Earlier on March 19 the Election Commission (EC) had asked political parties to “desist” from indulging in any propaganda involving actions taken by defence forces during their Lok Sabha poll campaigns.
On 8th April, 66 retired civil servants had written to President Ram Nath Kovind that EC’s independence, impartiality is seen as compromised and that it was ‘suffering from a crisis of credibility today.’ The letter listed several instances of violation of the model code of conduct by the ruling party leaders, that had invited little or no action by the Election Commission. With Yogi Adityanath and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s blatant Modiji ki Sena remark and now this, there is little doubt about the
Modi’s remark caused outrage on social media, and many people pointed out that Pulwama was an intelligence failure for which the government is yet to answer.
Dear @narendramodi Ji
a ) Generally, vultures are into the business of feasting over dead bodies, begging for votes over the dead bodies of our soldiers, is somewhat similar.
b ) please explain the security lapses, that led to #Pulwama , despite intel inputs. https://t.co/JzUKXMLlxn

Why should anyone vote for @narendramodi who was busy shooting for a documentary in Corbett NP even after 40 CRPF soldiers died in #Pulwama? Why should anyone vote for someone who couldn’t hit a JeM camp and lied to the nation? https://t.co/br3LPtaNDk

Why did Pulwama take place? Why couldnt you prevent it? Because your agencies were sleeping on the job, may be. Even CRPF families requesting you not to politicise. At least listen to them https://t.co/yT3k4nJl7K
