PM Modi Thanks ‘Nirav Modi’ For Joining ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ Movement
Diamantaire Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi are both absconding since the first week of January 2018.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, March 16 posted a tweet thanking fugitive businessman Nirav Modi for joining the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar Movement’ and supporting him. The prime minister had tagged his fake account. Later, however, he deleted the tweet.
Diamantaire Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi are both absconding since the first week of January 2018. They are involved in a fraud case pertaining to cheating the state-run Punjab National Bank (PNB) through fraudulent issuance of Letters of Undertaking (LoUs) and Foreign Letters of Credit (FLCs) worth over USD 2 billion (about Rs 13,000 crore). As per a report by Sunetra Chaudhary in NDTV, a legal team from the UK offered to come to India to pave way for bringing Nirav Modi back but allegedly did not receive any response from Indian authorities.
Narendra Modi’s Twitter handle tagged a parody account named @niiravmodi, which did not disappoint with the reply it posted.
