News18-IPSOS Exit Poll Projects 5-7 Seats for LJP in Bihar, Party is Contesting Only 6
Several such glaring inconsistencies have been reported in multiple exit polls for the 2019 election.
News18-IPSOS exit poll by Network 18, released after polling concluded on May 19, showed the Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) winning between 5 and 7 seats in Bihar, further raising questions about the credibility of the exit polls.
The Ram Vilas Paswan-led LJP, part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, has fielded only six candidates according to the seat sharing arrangement between BJP, JD(U) and LJP.
Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi pointed out the error.
This is why I am so sceptical about #ExistPolls. The LJP is contesting on 6 seats in Bihar and a reputed channel like @CNNnews18 is predicting that the party would stand victorious on 5-7 seats. #ExitPoll2019 pic.twitter.com/EiA2ykCQnu

The six candidates are — Chandan Kumar from Nawada, Chirag Paswan from Jamui, Mehboob Ali Kaisar from Khagaria, Ram Chandra Paswan from Samastipur, Pashupati Kumar Paras from Hajipur and Vina Devi from Vaishali.
Hence, the projection for the party winning 5-7 seats is non-sensical. A similar error was reported in the Times Now-VMR Exit Poll which gave Aam Aadmi Party a 2.9 per cent vote share in Uttarakhand despite the part not fielding a single candidate in the state. The India Today-Axis Exit Poll was also full of errors, so much so that the agency — Axis My India — took down the detailed seats and vote share projections from its website entirely on Monday.
