Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac on Friday, February 1 slammed the NITI Aayog for “hiding and doctoring data” and called it a “national shame”.
In a tweet, Isaac said that dismantling the think tank must be high on any alternative agenda to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Niti Aayog hiding and doctoring data is becoming a national shame. It’s dismantling must be high on any alternative agenda to BJP.

The minister made the comment a day after NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar and CEO Amitabh Kant were given the task of damage control by the Narendra Modi-led government as Business Standard published the unreleased NSSO report which shows that unemployment in India rose to a 45-year high in 2017-2018.
Replying to reporters’ questions on the job data, Kumar kept saying that he doesn’t know even after media persons burst into laughter and told him that the Aayog has the report. He even said that the leaked report isn’t final and that “Centre did not release the report as it is still under process.” Sine the National Statistical Commission has the final say on NSSO reports and methodologies, Kumar’s response suggested NITI Aayog and government interference with the data.
