‘BJP Has Become a Marketing Company’: Patidar Leader Reshma Patel Quits Party
“We are being taught to market the false policies and false schemes of the government and fool the public.”
A key leader of the Patidar agitation in Gujarat, Reshma Patel resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday, saying that the party had turned into a “marketing company” to “fool the public.”
She tendered her resignation to Gujarat BJP President Jitu Vaghani, reported IANS.
In her resignation letter, Patel reportedly said, “BJP has now become only a marketing company and we are being taught to market the false policies and false schemes of the government and fool the public.”
She also delineated her intention to bring about a positive change by serving the public and working for the country.
She wrote, “But the autocratic behaviour of BJP leaders have always been compelling the BJP workers to toil as labourers and BJP workers are there only for toiling,” reported IANS.
The IANS report added Patel said she did not “wish to continue suffering and injustice being metted out and so (am) freeing myself from sinful partnership of such autocratic leaders, resigning from the party in public interest.”
Before she joined the BJP, Reshma Patel was part of the two-and-a-half-year long Patidar agitation in Gujarat, spearheaded by Hardik Patel who has now joined the Congress party.
She shared her resignation letter, written in Gujarati, on Twitter.

Reshma Patel had joined the ruling party in Gujarat after she was convinced that all the demands from the Patel community had been accepted. She was assigned the role of a spokesperson. However, lately she has been vocal about her stance against the party.
